There’s nothing better than coming home after a long day to fall into a fresh, neatly made, sumptuous bed… However often the thought of battling with hospital corners and plumping pillows is the last thing on your mind as you rush to leave in the morning. Here we’ve come up with some ways for better bed making to make the mornings a little easier and the evenings even more enjoyable.

 1. Well fitting bottom sheet - fitted sheet vs. flat sheet?

Flat sheets are easier to fold, but often you have to spend time readjusting your corners. For everyday ease, we recommend a fitted bottom sheet. If you take the time to fit the sheet in the first place and ensure it is pulled nicely taught, you often won’t need to do much more than a quick brush away of creases in the morning.
2. Good quality bed linen and keep it simple!

Bottom sheet, duvet cover and a pair of pillowcases. That’s all. No need for a top sheet and excess pillows. Seeing as you’re keeping it minimal, treat yourself to some good quality bed linen, a high thread count gives a more luxurious feel. For speedy bed making we think linen bedding is best as it has a naturally laid back look and therefore you don’t need to spend lots of time fussing over it. Alternatively we love this Relaxed Denim range by Secret Linen Store, so soft and a similar style to linen.
3. Pillow arrangement

As touched on above keep your pillows to the bare minimum, one or two depending on what your sleeping preference is. This cuts down the number of pillowcases that you need to wash regularly. When you make the bed, a quick straighten of your pillows and keep them tucked under the duvet cover. Make your bed look snug by adding decorative cushions, which are easy to throw on top.

4. Throw for the end of the bed

A throw is a great way to give your bed a nicely finished look, there’s no need for tucking it in, just have it draped over the end and sides of the bed. If it’s of a thicker material it will hang nicely on it’s own.
