Bespoke Fabrics

We can upholster our beds in almost any fabric, either supplied by you (known as 'Customer's Own Material'), or bought by us on your behalf. We explain both below - please contact us if you have any questions.

Supplying your own fabric (known as 'Customer's Own Material')

Are you looking to supply your own fabric to us that you have found elsewhere? here are a few requirements that your bespoke fabric will need to meet:

Does the fabric have a pattern?
There are two ways we can upholster a bed with a patterned fabric: We can 'pattern match' or 'railroad'. The nature of the pattern will determine the upholstery method required.

Patterns with an 'organic' repeat can often be railroaded; where the fabric is upholstered horizontally from the roll.

Fabrics that only make visual sense running in one direction from the roll will likely need to be pattern matched. This means that the fabric is cut by hand (as opposed to machine) and is then 'pattern matched' along discreet seams on the front of the headboard. Pattern matching fabrics is more labour intensive and will incur a pattern match fee.
Roll width and Martindale Rub count
The fabric you supply must have a minimum of 138cm useable roll width and a minimum Martindale Rub count of 20,000 rubs.
Fire retardancy (abbreviated to 'FR')
Unless inherently flame retardant (such as some pure wools), the  fabric you supply to us must come with a FR test certificate dated within the last 6 months and FR treated to the Cigarette and Match specifications: "The Furniture and Furnishings [Fire][Safety] Regulations - S.I. No 1324:1988 (as amended): Schedule 4 part 1 ‘The cigarette test’ and Schedule 5 part 1 ‘the match test’ using BS5852: Part 1 : 1979."

Please ask the fabric supplier to enclose the FR certificate with the fabric.

Occasionally fabrics are not supplied FR treated by fabric manufacturers and will need to be externally FR treated by a third party. Get in touch with us and we can give you an address for a fire treating company that we use for FR treatment.

Kindly note: Not all fabrics are suitable for FR treatment.
Email us a link to the fabric, bed model and size you are interested in

That way we can order samples to be sent to our factory to make sure they work with our machines and if needed our pattern matching team can find out how many metres they will need.

Once we have had the fabric approved, we will get in touch to let you know. We will let you know the meterage required and will give you the details for where to send the fabric once purchased. All fabric must be fully FR treated before you deliver it to us and your 5-7 week lead time will begin once we’ve received the fabric.
